OpenOffice Integration and Migration

Migration of OpenOffice.org

Cybersite offers to help businesses to migrate to OpenOffice.org by following a logical path of template conversion, macro conversion and re-education as part of a total migration plan. This plan involves the following areas of interest to the business process:

1. Convert any templates across to OpenOffice.org formats.
2. Convert macros across from Microsoft's Visual Basic language to something more appropriate such as StarBasic, C++ or Python.
3. Convert the addressbooks and data spreadsheets across into viable data sources for use in OpenOffice.org and the mail merge feature.
4. Setup any accessability features that may be required for special needs.
5. Make adjustments to the configuration of OpenOffice.org to suit the needs of the user and/or business where it is to be used.
6. Install any necessary extra software such as fonts, dictionaries etc.
7. Training on differences in Office suites and features unique to OpenOffice.org.

Integration of OpenOffice.org

Cybersite Consulting also offers to help integrate OpenOffice into a customer's existing software base. This can be done by having some of the OpenOffice.org objects made available to the customer's existing software and implemented to call appropriate methods to bring up reports, documents, charts, spreadsheets and similar office objects.

Alternatively, integration may simply be a process of having the customer's existing software be able to generate reports and/or documents that are compatible with the OpenOffice.org open format. This allows the customer's product to be utilised to a much wider base of users that simply one Microsoft format.
